Your provider selects the appropriate laboratory based on medical needs, availability, and insurance coverage.
Why are some labs sent out?
Send-out labs are used for testing that requires specialized equipment or more detailed analysis than can’t be completed at the clinic.
What types of tests are sent out?
Send-out lab testing may include, but is not limited to:
- PCR testing for infections
- Blood tests such as complete blood counts (CBC)
- Metabolic panels (CMP/BMP)
- Thyroid testing
- Liver and kidney function tests

How long do send-out lab results take?
Most send-out lab results are available within 24–72 hours, though some tests may take longer. Your provider will review results and notify you when they are available.
